The time is fast approaching when Britain is going to be given a choice: a choice between the consistent failings and deception of a worn out Labour Party or the integrity of a Conservative Government that trusts the British people to control their own lives. Labour believe that they know what’s best for Britain and dictate our lives from Westminster, determining how our schools, police and hospitals should operate using unhelpful and outdated Government targets together with endless paperwork and quangos.

The Conservative Party believes that local people know what their local area needs and that control should be given back from Westminster to our communities. Local Teachers and headmasters should be allowed to decide on the best way to deliver our children’s education and have the power to instil discipline back into their classrooms. Local Doctors should have the freedom to decide what their community’s healthcare needs are and how best to fulfil them. Local Police should be the ones to decide what Nottingham needs to make its streets safer, not faceless bureaucrats in London.

You will have a clear choice at the General Election and I hope that as a resident of Nottingham South, you will choose real and lasting change by voting for me, as your Conservative Candidate, to represent you honestly and with integrity in Parliament. We have the opportunity to bring about a new era of change for this city and for our country and by taking collective responsibility and working to develop the society that we want to live in, there is no limit to what we can achieve.

Local Campaigns

UPDATE: Whilst out in Wollaton over the weekend we were pleased to hear about the council sending out street sweepers in the area on Thursday and Friday following my article in the Evening Post. I am glad that the council are heeding calls for Wollaton East to be cleaned up, and although this is an exciting first step, I will be continuing to campaign for waste bins to be placed in the area.

Cleaning up Wollaton's Pavements

As a nation, there is no denying that we love our pets. However, despite the fun and joy our animals bring us, there is also no denying that there is a growing issue with their unpleasant by-product. Dog mess is one of the most unnecessary and disgusting forms of anti-social behaviour currently plaguing our neighbourhoods and it’s also one with a clear solution.

In Wollaton, around the Park Estate, so many residents complained to Conservative Candidate Rowena Holland about this problem that it was clear something had to be done. The problem is that there are dog walkers who, en route to the Park, are letting their dogs foul on the pavements. There are some bins in place but there are several extra locations which Rowena believes would make all the difference. It is not too much to expect that children can run along the pavement without the risk of taking dog mess on the soles of their shoes into their homes.

“Following a survey of local residents and several suggestions from the Residents’ Association, I’m campaigning for extra bins to be placed at several key locations in the area. While working with dog owners is clearly the best option, the Council should also be enforcing fixed penalties for those who continue to let their dogs foul outside people’s homes.” Rowena added “I believe that this issue is by no means exclusive to Wollaton and I would encourage any other Nottingham residents with a similar experience to get in touch with the Council and show that the current situation is unacceptable.”
